Wayfair: We love the sophisticated aesthetic you bring to all of your client projects. What is your interior design philosophy? What guides you as a designer?

Iman: My design philosophy is always to keep in mind function + aesthetics! We need functionality and beautiful spaces to reflect who we are! Furthermore, design with what inspires you, your culture, your history.

What guides me as a designer is something I like to call “A Designers Intuition”. I design with what moves me, what my intuition is telling me, what speaks to me, mixed with my design education and experience. It always works out, in the end, you will notice how certain materials and finishes, colours, or textures just line up and go well together.

Wayfair: You’ve designed both personal homes and business spaces. How do those design experiences compare?

Iman: When designing residential interiors there is more of a personal connection to the client where commercial projects have a brand so you notice two different types of attachments. The similarities to them is whoever is overseeing the project there is a passion to have a space designed for their needs.

Wayfair: How long have you been working in interior design, and what draws you most to this profession?

Iman: I have been in the design industry from 15 years old. I started out my career working at a big box store in the paint and decor department. What draws me to the interior design & decor profession is the clients and the stories behind their projects. We focus on relationship building so finding out about our clients is very important. It is also very fulfilling to see the end results as it takes lots of work to complete these projects.

Wayfair: Which textures and color palettes are you most drawn to this season, especially for outdoor spaces?

Iman: This season I’m loving bold colour palettes and a tropical luxe feel, banana leaf print wallpapers, and bringing the outside inside. Also, you can never go wrong with a little leopard 🙂

When it comes to outdoor spaces I love modular seating options, cabanas, live plants, vibrant pillows, and outdoor fire pits.

Wayfair: What do you most love to do outside of your interior design work?

Iman: I love to travel! A huge thing for me. I get inspired and meet new people and cultures!
